Deptford New Hotel Construction Started on Route 41

Construction has started on one of the two new hotels planned for Deptford, to be located between Rt 41 (Hurffville Road) and Rt 42, at the Deptford Center Road Intersection, across from Staples and the AT&T store.

42Freeway.com broke the story of the hotels being proposed back in March 2015.  The planning board documents described 2 buildings, one a Hampton Inn and the other a Marriott Courtyard.   At the time it was said the Hampton Inn was being constructed first.

The location of the hotel facilities, for those familiar with the area, is near the mall at the entrance to Rt 42 south.  The first hotel is positioned behind the Sherwin Williams Paint store, across the street one one side from the Deptford Staples (which has been there forever) and across the 42 entrance sits the closed Freeway diner.

The first Hotel will be way back off of 41, sitting much closer to Rt 42.   To enter the property there are two segments that touch 41, basically wrapping around the paint store building.  A larger opening is right at the traffic light intersection, which while offering easy access to the 42 North and South exits, will not support turning left onto 41.  The second entrance on the other side of the Sherwin Williams store is much further from the intersection where this is no road divider, and I assume this exit could be used to turn left.

Hey Mark, any word of a liquor license on either of these?

Rocco – I have not heard anything specific or if they are 100% having a bar at one hotel. I was googling like a madman looking for the plans online (sometimes the architects will post on a project page). I also searched NJ-ABC to see if anything was referenced and I didn’t find anything. Considering how expensive they are (over a mill in Deptford I believe) I would be surprised if they build a hotel and don’t take advantage of the “if you build a hotel of 100 rooms or more you can apply for a special hotel liquor license”.

Where can you find out where to apply for a job at these hotels?
