Dooney’s Pub Voorhees Opened Last Week! Photos inside!
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Last week on Monday 9/10, Dooney’s Pub opened in Voorhees NJ, and 42Freeway was there!  (But then things got busy and here I am a week later finally posting about it, doh!)   Voorhees is the second location for the locally owned Dooney’s pub, with the other location being in Delran NJ.   I’ve only been to this new Voorhees location and all I can say is.. WOW!   This is a brand new build and it is VERY impressive.  To categorize the new Dooney’s Pub…I’d place it with PJ’s Washington Township in style and class.

Location: Closer than you think

First let’s talk location, because many of you are saying “this isn’t in 42Freeway territory!”.   But what many don’t realize is, parts of Voorhees are only a few miles away from our traditional 42Freeway region.  In fact, the new Dooney’s Pub is located 6 miles away from Clementon Lake Park, Kennedy Stratford, and Camden County Vo-Tech!  Very accessible from a big part of our 42Freeway readership!

So to be more specific, the new pub is at the end of a large strip mall on Route 73, located almost across from the new Virtua Voorhees Hospital, and in the same shopping center as Lowe’s Home Improvements.

Dooney’s Pub: A look inside!

The restaurant and bar is large…  I would say it’s FOUR distinct sections… and the entire place is filled with professionally designed character!   This is not a “painted drywall and neon bar signs” place   There is brickwork, wood work, chrome… just a big variety of surfaces and styles to make it visually exciting.  Voorhees Township planning board minutes say the entire establishment is almost 8,000 square feet, and each of the 4 areas are large enough on their own to be an individual bar elsewhere!  In fact, there are THREE entrances to the bar!

The four sections from left to right:

  • Covered Outdoor Bar and Table area, with full wall slider opening windows and fireplace.  I didn’t even realize this room was designed to open up… as it looks just like an indoor bar setup with large windows… until you notice that those windows slide open.  Seats about 50 at the bar (going from memory) 23 taps including the Guinness Triple Tap
  • Second Bar inside the main restaurant area, also with the same 23 tap setup.  They bar seats about 40 and has more seating around the perimeter
  • The third section is setup as a dedicated and more intimate dining area.
  • The Guinness Room!  A very unique aspect of Dooney’s Pub!  This area is separated from the rest of the establishment by a door..  features another THIRD full bar and several tables which can hold 90-100 people!   This room can be booked for private parties and functions, and management of course can also open it up to the public for busy bar nights  Interestingly it seems this was originally targeted as “The Jameson Room” but it seems Guinness was more interested in the sponsorship.  Considering the prominent front “Guinness” signage, I wonder if the folks at Jameson are double-guessing their decision.

I stayed at the bar for two beers and wings, and spent some time chatting with team member Ariani who gave me a tour of several of the restaurant’s features as well as the Guinness Room.   This was a quick trip on the way home from work which I hadn’t actually planned in advance, so I will be back soon with my wife and friends to check this new and beautiful establishment out even further!
