Carollo’s Restaurant Coming To Cross Keys And New Freedom Road (Former Wawa Winslow)

Carollo’s Family Restaurants are continuing their expansion by building a new 65 seat restaurant on Cross Keys Rd at New Freedom Road, in the former Wawa building and stores.

I noticed the significant remodeling project taking place months ago, but initially could only find site plan changes which didnt identify the owner/tenant or usage.  But now we have updated documents which clearly state that Carollo’s Restaurant is coming in.   It seems they will be the biggest tenant in building, and I am unclear still if there will be room for other businesses.  Tax documents show that in March 2019, Carollo’s took over ownership of the property.

The restaurant will be a nice addition to the area as while there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street, most people have to head up to Rt 73 and White Horse Pike to find quality food options.  The Carollo websites for other locations indicate they use all fresh ingredients, and provide a variety of Italian based dishes from delicious pizza, classic Italian dishes and their own signature recipes.

The Carollo business has several locations in South Jersey, and also own a few additional shopping centers.  Restaurants include Franklinville, Blackwood, Moorestown and strip mall centers and buildings include Washington Township, Winslow and Cherry Hill.  This is not a full list.

Update:  The January Winslow Planning Board meeting minutes (PDF) has additional commentary on the restaurant.  No mention of liquor license or bar.  Parking is being increased from 30 to 52 spaces.  8 Employees will have parking in the rear of the building.

    1. Great question… I shouldve mentioned in the article. I havent found any evidence of that. License changes are typically approved by council. There is nothing in council minutes, nothing on the public meeting announcement site, and the NJ ABC license list was updated in June 2019, and still lists Urban Spirits as the owner. No mention in planning docs of a bar. Seems like a no. I havent seen plans of inside the restaurant.
